She’s the Business – Keynote Speaker Announcement





There’s still time to sign up to Manchester Enterprise Centre’s She’s the Business event, a celebration of all things women in business, in partnership with Soap & Glory.

Featuring top speakers and exclusive interactive workshops designed to help budding businesswomen start and grow their own business, She’s the Business is a free all-day event, taking place this Wednesday at University Place.

Sarah Hiscox, Braid Bar

Sarah Hiscox has worked in and around the fashion business for more than 25 years. Together with Willa Burton, she founded The Braid Bar - a place where people of all ages can go to choose their perfect braid from a visual style menu. No appointments, no hair wash and no big bill.


Sarah will be speaking from 11.15 – 12.00 

Rachel Bridge, author and former Sunday Times journalist

Former Enterprise Editor at the Sunday Times, Rachel is a business and motivational speaker, specialising in entrepreneurialism and personal development. As well as authoring six books, she also runs her own consultancy, Froglet Productions. 


Rachel will be hosting the ‘in conversation’ sessions with Aneeqa Khan, and Jane Field and Wendy Shand, at 12.45 – 13.30, and 14.35 – 15.20 

Aneeqa Khan, eporta

After walking away from a blossoming City career in 2014, Aneeqa Khan ploughed her savings into eporta, the Airbnb of the interiors market. The Rossendale entrepreneur has grown her business significantly in just two years, with a portfolio of over 5,000 trade buyers and 1,000 brands across 52 countries. 


Aneeqa will be in conversation with Rachel Bridge from 12.45 – 13.30 

Jane Field, Jonny’s Sister

Jane Field founded online retail business Jonny’s Sister in 2005, after noticing a gap in the market for personalised products. Selling gifts from cushions to tins, all products are handmade and distributed directly from Jane’s farmhouse. 


Jane will be in conversation with Rachel Bridge and Wendy Shand from 14.35 – 15.20 

Wendy Shand, Tots to Travel

Mum of three Wendy Shand founded Tots to Travel in 2006, with a mission to help families with young children have the perfect holiday. Handpicking the very best family-friendly villas and cottages around Europe, Tots to Travel puts child safety first, bringing parents much-needed peace of mind when choosing their holiday destination. 


Wendy will be in conversation with Rachel Bridge and Jane Field from 14.35 – 15.20 

Lucy Edwards, Seed Marketing

Previously working for Seed as a Student Brand Manager in Cardiff, Lucy was snapped up as soon as she graduated, and is an expert in how to run the perfect Student Brand Manager Campaign. Lucy works on some of the agency’s most exciting clients and campaigns.


Lucy will be speaking from 15.20 – 15.50 


Sandy Mayo, Soap & Glory 

Sandy Mayo is a Global Category Director at Soap & Glory. Soap & Glory was founded in 2006 by a maverick ‘soaper-woman’ whose mission was to formulate fun, world-class beauty products that would give every girl the best bang for their beauty budget.


Sandy will be speaking from 15.50 – 16.30
