Venture Further 2013 finalists announced

The finalists of our annual business start-up competition have been announced. Each finalist will now pitch their business proposal to a panel of expert judges, and winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday, 8 May.


Business category

 

ShinDigga Ltd.

A highly innovative and exciting craft beer company which aims to change the way young people think about ale.

Entrants:

Belle Vue Productions Ltd.

A company that produces film and web content for universities and the arts and heritage sector.

Miss P's Barbecue

A street food business that specializes in selling barbecued meats typical of Southern USA.

An exciting new business venture focusing on Fairtrade cotton with unique, bold and eye-catching prints, suited for the new and emerging urban brand culture the UK has embraced.

Plan-It Earth

A fresh, vibrant and trustworthy source of information aimed at backpackers. It enhances the personal experiences of its users and enables the booking of trips in a simple, cost-effective way that accommodates individual wants and needs.

This new enterprise’s vision is to become a nationwide leading concept in dance schools, encouraging sustainability through social enterprise for disadvantaged children, young people and adults whilst still maintaining dance school training to an impeccable standard.

Unicycle

A sustainable social enterprise providing a second-hand bicycle marketplace for students at The University of Manchester.

4Lunch

A catering service that specialises in producing fresh and healthy dishes using seasonal produce. We train young people aged 16-25 who may have experienced periods of homelessness and unemployment to cook for themselves at home, with the opportunity to apply these skills within 4Lunch.

A software platform that connects consumers who want trustworthy car repairs to the UK’s best mobile mechanics.

A virtual, location independent cloud firewall and security solution for the modern 21st century company; and renders services to the B2C sector based on the same technological foundation.

Touch-it-Safe

The first cost-effective and long lasting self-adhesive antimicrobial film that can be easily adhered to any surface. It provides an active barrier that kills harmful micro-organisms, reducing their ability to transmit disease.
